The selection of partners, contract manufacturers, suppliers and other business partners is based on careful evaluation; all contract manufacturers are required to ensure compliance with OECD standards on responsible business conduct (RBC). Reports are received upon requests describing work conditions and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) is the first point on the agenda in larger meetings with our contract manufacturers. All contract manufacturers are required to be ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified. Further, they must comply with the following list of regulatory requirements:

  • EU Conflict Minerals Regulation

  • Dodd-Frank Act Section 1502

  • California Proposition 65

We are committed to ensuring respectful treatment of workers along our value chain. Our personnel handbook, based on Norwegian regulations, has clear instructions on rules against discrimination and other ethical guidelines. We have assigned an HSE representative ensuring we have, and follow, guidelines with regards to daily operations, internal hardware testing and development, and customer on-site installations.

Environmental responsibility.

Materials applied in the design of Sonitor products are carefully selected to reduce any risk of dangerous exposure to humans or the environment by following legislations like RoHS, REACH and Proposition 65 of California. Our contract manufacturers are instructed to ensure that these regulations are carefully followed in the selection of components.

All products meet the regulatory requirements of the countries where they are placed on the market. We take all necessary measures to ensure that products will be responsibly collected in every country where they are placed on the market, following national regulations. Our products are subject to the European Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive 2012/19/EU, the Battery Directive 2006/66/EC, and the Packaging Directive 94/62/EC in EU/EEA countries. Our integration partners take on this responsibility when they act as importers. The responsibility includes actions like registration with the authorities, contracting with a takeback scheme and reporting quantities and weights of devices placed on the market.

GDPR.

  • Indoor location data is personal data under GDPR

  • The app owner is the data controller, and is responsible for the legal basis (i.e., user consent) for processing the data

  • Sonitor acts as data processor, and do not sell or share personal data

  • A data processing agreements (DPA) between the app owner and Sonitor regulates the data processing

  • Only app owners have access to the data generated by users of their specific app through secure storage and routing mechanisms

  • Location data is stored in Google Cloud located in Europe
