Sometimes history repeats itself
King Harald Bluetooth ruled Norway in late 900 A.D. and was described as being exceptional at connecting people and cultures. This inspired the naming of Bluetooth® (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology by Ericsson in the 1990s, a technology that enables the short-range exchange of wireless data. As with the power of kings, technology evolves.

In 986 A.D. Sweyn Forkbeard, who was known for his navigational expertise, revolted against his father, King Bluetooth, and eventually became his successor. Forkbeard technology similarly represents a new paradigm in wireless connectivity and accurate indoor positioning, complementing the performance of Bluetooth Low Energy-only technology for indoor positioning. Forkbeard technology combines the capability of Bluetooth Low Energy with the proven accuracy of ultrasound location technology.
This results in delivering the best indoor navigational accuracy and experience combined with the best-in-class indoor positioning and location accuracy.
Forkbeard Technologies AS
Forkbeard Technologies AS was established in February 2019 as a sister company to Sonitor Technologies AS. Building on Sonitor’s 20-year tradition of excellence in ultrasound-based positioning, Forkbeard Technologies provides the technology and building blocks to take the GPS revolution indoors.
Forkbeard Technologies AS and Sonitor Technologies AS are both subsidiaries of Sonitor IPS Holding AS.
